The money a marketplace owes you does not return itself

Lost and damaged inventory, fees charged against the wrong measurements, returns refunded and never restocked. Marketplaces publish policies covering all of it and settle almost none of it automatically. Finding what is owed is an audit, and claiming it is a process somebody has to work.

What’s included in Cost Recovery

Inventory reconciliation

Units sent against units received, inventory lost or damaged inside the fulfilment network, and stock adjusted with no explanation attached. The platform's reports record all of it and settle none of it on their own.

  • Receiving discrepancies
  • Lost and damaged units
  • Unexplained adjustments

Fee and commission audit

Referral and fulfilment fees charged against the wrong category, dimensions or weight. A product measured incorrectly once is charged incorrectly on every unit it sells until somebody checks, which is why this is often the largest single line in an audit.

  • Category and referral fees
  • Dimension and weight errors
  • Storage and long term charges

Returns and refunds

Refunds issued where the item never came back, returns graded unsellable without cause, and disposals made outside the window the policy allows. Ordinary events one at a time, and a standing leak across a year of volume.

  • Refunds without a return
  • Disposal and unsellable stock
  • Customer damage claims

Claims prepared and worked

Each claim assembled with the report references and evidence the platform asks for, submitted in its own format and through its own channel, then followed through the case system rather than filed and forgotten.

  • Evidence assembled
  • Submitted in the required format
  • Cases followed to a decision

How it works

  1. 01

    Pull the reports

Read access to the account reporting, or the exports if you would rather send them. Nothing in the account is changed in order to run an audit.

  2. 02

    Reconcile against current policy

Every discrepancy checked against the platform's published policy as it stands today. A difference the policy allows for is not a claim, and filing it anyway wastes the case queue you need for the real ones.

  3. 03

    Assemble and submit

Claims prepared with the references and evidence required, inside whatever claim window the platform enforces. That window is the reason old discrepancies are sometimes not recoverable at all.

  4. 04

    Follow each case

Cases tracked to a decision, with responses and escalation where the platform's own process provides for them. Every outcome is the marketplace's to decide, and you see each one as it lands.
