Home & Kitchenware marketplace management

Home and kitchen is crowded, price-compared and costly to ship. We compete on detail pages that answer the buyer's questions, fulfilment costs planned per unit, and advertising aimed at the searches that convert.

What makes home and kitchen different

Where home and kitchen accounts gain or give away margin.

  • Crowded search results

Most searches return dozens of similar products. Titles, images and comparison content that show size, material and use win the click from the listing next to yours.

  • Size and weight

Large and heavy items cost more to store and ship, and a little packaging can change the fee tier. Unit economics are checked before a product is priced or advertised.

  • Safety and materials

Products that touch food, carry electrical parts or are made for children face extra compliance checks. We confirm what each product needs before it launches.

Who buys home and kitchen products, and where

A buyer comparing thirty near identical results.

  • Amazon on search, decided by images

Home and kitchen is among the most crowded searches on Amazon, and the buyer decides between near identical listings on the main image, the price and the star rating before reading a word. The image set and the review count are the ranking.

  • Walmart for the household staple

Walmart's marketplace buyer restocks kitchen basics and home essentials at everyday prices, and Walmart's own search rewards items already selling in the category. A brand with a strong Amazon listing usually starts on Walmart from that data.

  • Gifting and the home refresh

Cookware sets, small appliances and decor peak with gifting and with the new year home refresh, so the same product is sold to two buyers: the gift giver in November and the household in January.

The rules that decide a home listing

Materials, warnings and the dimensions the fee is read from.

  • Food contact materials

Anything that touches food is made of materials permitted for food contact, and the listing states the material and whether it is dishwasher, oven or microwave safe. Claims such as non toxic and BPA free are checked against the product's own documents.

  • Proposition 65 and safety warnings

Products sold into California carry the Proposition 65 warning where their materials require one, and Amazon asks for it as a listing attribute. An electrical kitchen appliance states its safety certification too.

  • Dimensions on the listing are dimensions on the invoice

FBA measures the packaged item and charges on the size tier it falls in. A listing whose package dimensions are wrong pays the wrong fee until the item is measured again, and a claim recovers the difference only for the months on record.

How we run Home & Kitchenware accounts

The services a home brand uses most: the image set and the listing that win a crowded search, fee recovery on bulky items, and Walmart beside Amazon.

The calendar and the economics of home

Bulky fees, gift peaks and a return that arrives broken.

  • The fourth quarter and January, then Prime Day

Gifting drives November and December, the home refresh drives January, and Prime Day is the summer event for small appliances. Inbound shipments for the holiday are booked against Amazon's deadlines from September.

  • Fees follow size and weight

Home products are large or heavy or both, so the fulfilment fee is the biggest cost line after the product itself, and the size tier a product falls in is the first thing checked before a price is set.

  • Breakage and returns

Glass, ceramics and appliances come back damaged, and a damaged return is a refund plus a disposal. Packaging that survives the second journey, and a listing accurate enough to prevent the first return, are the margin.
